Kishtwar, Feb 22: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district on Sunday, officials said.
An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon-and-search operation following intelligence inputs.
As forces approached a suspected hideout, the militants opened fire, triggering an exchange.
The area has been cordoned off and reinforcements rushed in. Firing was underway at the time of filing this report.
