Srinagar, Feb 18 (TKHN): The Ramadan crescent was sighted in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday evening, marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi, confirmed to The Kashmir Honour News (TKHN), that the crescent has been sighted and announced that the first day of fasting will be observed on Thursday.
He said that special Taraweeh prayers will be offered in mosques across Jammu and Kashmir from tonight (Wednesday), InshaAllah.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is regarded as the holiest month for Muslims. During this sacred month, believers observe fasts from dawn to dusk, engage in prayers, give charity, and seek spiritual reflection and forgiveness. (TKHN)
