Srinagar, Mar 19 (TKHN): The Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi, on Thursday confirmed that the Shawwal crescent, signaling the start of the Islamic month of Shawwal, was not sighted in the region.
Speaking to The Kashmir Honour News (TKHN), the Grand Mufti stated that there are no verified reports of the moon sighting today. Consequently, Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Saturday, March 21, 2026. He urged the community to continue their sehri preparations, as Ramadan will complete 30 days.
Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the most significant festivals in Islam, marking the conclusion of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is observed with congregational prayers, acts of charity, family gatherings, and festive meals, reflecting gratitude to Allah for the patience, devotion, and self-restraint exercised during Ramadan.
