Heatwave Tightens Grip on Kashmir, Srinagar May See Temperatures Near 37°C

Srinagar, June 29: Kashmir is set to experience intense heatwave conditions over the next 48 hours, with maximum temperatures in Srinagar expected to reach between 35°C and 37°C on Monday, according to weather forecasts.

Most weather models are in agreement over the sharp rise in temperatures, although a few indicate a slightly lower maximum of around 34°C. Across the Valley, daytime temperatures are forecast to remain 4°C to 8°C above normal, creating heatwave conditions in many areas.

The hot weather is expected to continue through Tuesday (June 30), with residents advised to take precautions against prolonged exposure to the sun, particularly during peak afternoon hours.

In contrast, the Jammu region is unlikely to witness a significant increase in temperatures as monsoon-like conditions continue to prevail. Short spells of rain are possible in parts of Jammu over the next two days.

Meteorologists expect temperatures across Kashmir to begin easing from Wednesday, with more noticeable relief from Thursday as an approaching Western Disturbance is forecast to bring cooler conditions to the region.
