Oil marketing companies on Wednesday reduced the prices of commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders by up to ₹183.50 per 19-kg cylinder and slashed the rates of five-kg free trade LPG (FTL) cylinders by around ₹13, offering relief to commercial consumers amid an improving fuel supply situation.
The reduction marks the first major easing in prices after more than 100 days of supply concerns linked to the West Asia conflict. However, prices of domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged.
The latest cut follows four successive hikes since March 7 that had pushed the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder to ₹3,113.50 in Delhi. With the latest revision, the price in the national capital has been reduced by ₹183.50 to ₹2,930 per cylinder.
In Mumbai, the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs ₹2,885 after a reduction of ₹182, while in Kolkata, the price has been cut by ₹174 to ₹3,081.50 per cylinder.
The price of five-kg free trade LPG cylinder refills, mainly used by migrant workers and small commercial users, has also been reduced by approximately ₹13, bringing the revised rate to ₹808.50 per cylinder.
The price revision comes nearly a week after the Union Petroleum Ministry restored industrial and commercial LPG supplies to pre-crisis levels and withdrew sector-specific allocations, citing improved availability.
Meanwhile, private fuel retailer Nayara Energy reduced petrol prices by 75 paise per litre and diesel prices by 73 paise per litre across its network of more than 7,000 fuel stations nationwide. The company said the move follows a decline in international crude oil prices after easing tensions in West Asia and the restoration of key maritime shipping routes.
Public sector oil marketing companies — Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) — have not revised retail fuel prices. In Delhi, petrol continues to retail at ₹102.12 per litre and diesel at ₹95.20 per litre at IOC outlets.
