Trump Warns Iran of ‘Massive Military Response’ Amid Reported Assassination Plot

Washington, July 11: US President Donald Trump on Saturday warned Iran of a massive military response if it attempted to assassinate him, saying “1,000 missiles are locked and loaded” and aimed at the Islamic Republic.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said orders had already been given and that the US military was “ready, willing, and able” to respond if any attempt was made against the “sitting President of the United States.”

The warning came after reports that Israel had shared fresh intelligence with the United States alleging Iran had developed a new plan to assassinate Trump.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Israeli officials passed the intelligence to US officials earlier this week. CNN, citing two sources familiar with the matter, reported that the warning referred to a specific alleged assassination plot, although US intelligence agencies have not independently verified the information.

CNN further reported that some US officials believe the Israeli intelligence may also be part of a broader effort to influence Trump’s decision on whether to intensify military action against Iran.

The report added that US intelligence has been monitoring threats against Trump in recent weeks. Officials described the latest Israeli warning as significant because it pointed to a specific alleged plan. However, a US official and an Israeli source told CNN that the intelligence reflected the intentions of hardliners within Iran’s leadership rather than evidence of a fully operational assassination plot.

According to CNN, Iran’s newly appointed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander, Ahmad Vahidi, was among those said to be advocating targeting Trump.

Trump’s remarks also followed Washington’s demand that Iran publicly guarantee safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz after recent attacks on merchant shipping. Tehran has maintained that the strategic waterway falls under its control and has proposed charging vessels transiting the route, challenging longstanding international shipping norms.

The developments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East despite an interim ceasefire, raising concerns of further escalation.
