Weather Activity Eases Across J&K; Major Flood Threat Largely Averted

Srinagar, July 24: Weather activity has significantly reduced across Jammu and Kashmir, bringing relief after days of widespread rainfall that had raised concerns over flooding in several areas.

According to Kashmir Weather, an independent weather forecasting agency, rainfall has largely subsided across the region, although a few places may continue to witness brief showers until the evening. A lull in weather activity is now expected, particularly across South Kashmir, where no major rainfall is anticipated. The break in rainfall is likely to continue at least until midnight.

The forecast indicates that scattered showers may still occur over the next two days. However, these are expected to be short-lived and are unlikely to develop into prolonged or widespread spells of heavy rain.

With the improvement in weather conditions, the threat of any major flooding has largely been averted. While river water levels may remain elevated through Saturday or even the following day due to runoff from recent rainfall, no significant flood threat is currently expected, provided there is no breach of embankments.

Authorities have, however, advised people living along riverbanks and vulnerable areas to continue exercising caution and stay updated with official advisories as water levels gradually recede.
