Srinagar, Aug 1: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq on Saturday strongly condemned the killing of two non-local labourers in the Devsar area of Kulgam, saying Islam upholds the sanctity of every innocent human life and unequivocally condemns the killing of innocent persons.
In a statement, Mirwaiz said targeting poor labourers who had come to earn an honest livelihood was completely contrary to the teachings of Islam and the values of humanity.
He said that whether in Kashmir or elsewhere, the spilling of innocent blood only brings more pain and suffering, stressing that violence must be shunned.
Advocating a peaceful approach, Mirwaiz said accommodation, dialogue and engagement are the way forward to make South Asia a more peaceful and better place for all its people.
He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the victims.
