Srinagar, Sep 21: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Sujit Kumar on Monday directed the realignment of security checkpoints in Srinagar to ease traffic congestion while maintaining effective security coverage.
Kumar chaired a security-review-cum-traffic management meeting with all stakeholders at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir, a police spokesman said.
The existing city security grid and deployment of personnel were reviewed during the meeting, with particular focus on realigning naka points wherever required to improve security coverage and reduce traffic congestion, he said.
The meeting also focused on ensuring smooth vehicular movement without compromising the existing security arrangements, the spokesman said.
The IGP directed implementation of security arrangements across intra-zone, inter-zone, inter-district and peripheral areas.
He also directed that check posts at the entry and exit points of Srinagar City be reinforced, with seamless coordination and real-time information sharing among traffic police, district police and naka points.
The measures are aimed at facilitating effective monitoring and ensuring a swift response while maintaining security coverage across the city and its peripheral areas. (PTI)
