Airtel Raises Postpaid Plan Rentals by ₹50, Shares Gain 1.5%

New Delhi, Oct 7: Bharti Airtel shares gained on Wednesday after the telecom major increased the monthly rental of its postpaid plans by ₹50, with the stock rising as much as 2% during the trading session.

Shares of Airtel closed at ₹1,837.80 on the NSE, registering a gain of 1.51%. The stock has advanced 3.92% over the past five trading sessions, though it remains down 12.92% so far in 2026.

Following the revision, Airtel’s entry-level postpaid plan will now start at ₹499. The revised tariffs are effective immediately and are available to postpaid customers from October 7.

The company has also introduced additional international roaming benefits for postpaid subscribers. From October 8, customers will receive one international roaming trip every year at no additional charge. The benefit includes 5 GB of data, 60 minutes of calls, 25 outgoing SMS and free incoming SMS, with the package available for a five-day period.

Family-plan subscribers can extend the roaming benefit to members covered under their respective plans.

Airtel has retained bundled services across its postpaid offerings, including unlimited calling and data, spam and fraudulent-link protection, as well as access to entertainment and cloud services.

The ₹499 individual plan includes Xstream Play Premium and Google One, while the ₹749 family plan for two SIMs includes Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Xstream Play Premium and Google One. Higher-priced family plans cover three to five SIMs, with the ₹1,799 plan also offering Netflix Standard.

The latest move has also renewed investor focus on the possibility of a broader tariff hike in the prepaid segment. Airtel’s last broad-based tariff increase was implemented in July 2024. However, the company has not announced any similar increase for prepaid users so far.

A wider prepaid tariff revision, if introduced, could have a greater impact given the significantly larger prepaid customer base. For now, the latest increase remains limited to Airtel’s postpaid plans.
