Central University of Kashmir Shifts to Online Classes, WFH on Fridays and Green Saturdays



Ganderbal, May 20: The Central University of Kashmir has announced online classes and Work From Home (WFH) for teaching and non-teaching staff on Fridays and Green Saturdays as part of austerity measures to ensure continuity of academic activities.


According to an official order issued by university administration by the Deputy Registrar (Administration) of the university, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, the decision has been taken pursuant to the recommendations of the Dean’s Committee meeting held on May 13, 2026 under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor.


The order stated that with effect from May 22, 2026, the university shall observe online teaching and WFH on Fridays and Green Saturdays till further orders.


The university has also directed that all practical and laboratory classes scheduled on Fridays shall be rescheduled to Thursday afternoons to avoid disruption in academic activities.


Further, departmental and school meetings, including PhD viva voce examinations and workshops, shall as far as possible be conducted through online mode. However, offline meetings may be permitted in unavoidable circumstances with prior approval from the competent authority.
